Devotional: Faith, Prayer, and True Belief

Think of a time in your life (either prior to or since becoming a Christian) - excluding your baptism - when you just knew God was at work and that He was with you. What did that time do for your faith? Are you still having those faith-building experiences today? Below are some Scriptures and thoughts to stir your thoughts on faith, prayer, and true belief.

"Be joyful always; pray continually; give thanks in all circumstances, for this is God's will for you in Christ Jesus." -1 Th 5:16-18. It is God's will for us to be continually in prayer. Are we?

"I tell you the truth, anyone who has faith in me will do what I have been doing. He will do even greater things than these, because I am going to the Father. And I will do whatever you ask in my name, so that the Son may bring glory to the Father." -Jn 14:12-13. What did Jesus do while here on Earth? A lot! But everything He did, He did with prayer and great faith. One of the greatest ways that we can express our faith in God is by praying to Him, and truly BELIEVING that He will answer our prayers:

"Now faith is being sure of what we hope for and certain of what we do not see. . . And without faith it is impossible to please God, because anyone who comes to Him must first believe that He exists and that He rewards those who earnestly seek Him." -Heb 11:1, 6

Read from "My Utmost for His Highest" Oct 9:
"The greatest need we have is not to do things, but to believe things." Are we basing our faith on our own experiences - things WE have done or accomplished? Chambers writes that our faith must be based on the atonement for sin that is Jesus' sacrifice. We all believe that Jesus' sacrifice is real, and our belief will be shown in the way we live our lives. How do our lives exemplify the belief we have in Jesus' death and resurrection?
